STEVEN R. MITCHELL

Series Producer, Writer, Director

Mitchell is a 42 year veteran of the Canadian film and television industry who has acted as Series Producer for 5 seasons [150 x 1/2hr episodes] of Food Network Canada's multiple award winning TV series, YOU GOTTA EAT HERE! * YGEH! is currently seen in Canada, the United States, South East Asia, the UK, and Italy. It went international in 2016 by filming in Italy, Ireland & England. Mitchell holds dual Canadian/UK citizenship.

Mitchell began his professional career as an actor for theatre, film, and television after studying in Canada at Ryerson University’s acclaimed theatre acting program. By the early eighties his intrigue in the medium’s marriage of art and technology led him into a successful picture, sound, and music editing career on several of Canada’s most successful productions; THE CARE BEAR MOVIE, DANGER BAY, LORNE GREENE’S NEW WILDERNESS and MY SECRET IDENTITY. He ultimately owned & operated VISUAL FIXATIONS, an 8 suite post facility in the heart of Toronto's little Italy.

In the 90's, under the banner of his production company FULL KILT PURSUITS, Mitchell has acted as a Producer on THE SMART WOMAN SURVIVAL GUIDE for the W Network, the reality competition series, SUPERSTAR HAIR CHALLENGE II for Slice, and BTV's documentary special, OBESITY: SEEKING SOLUTIONS for Global Television. He has co-writer and director credits on the award winning documentaries, SMOKING: WHY CAN’T I QUIT? and YOUTH & CRIME: BEYOND THE HEADLINES, also for Global Television. He Executive Produced the multi-award winning, 5 camera concert film Wendell Ferguson’s Cranky Christmas. Periodically, WFCC revives itself as a seasonal live concert event. FKP is currently developing a documentary series entitled BIG SCIENCE.

Mitchell likes cold exotic places; think Antarctica, Iceland; sailing; guitars; motorcycles; photography and cooking inventive comfort food dishes. In 2011, celebrity chef Anthony Sedlak declared Mitchell, “Central Canada’s Chilli Champion” for his Indian inspired, Slumdog Chillionaire, only to place second in the nationals against the two time reigning champ.
